You don’t usually think ‘nuclear war’ when you hear Kodak , but until 2006, the company could have started one: It had 3.5 pounds of weapons-grade uranium stashed in a nuclear reactor in the basement of its headquarters—right in the busy city of Rochester, New York.
It remains unclear why the uranium was there; only a few US officials and engineers knew about it. A nonproliferation expert calls it “such an odd situation because private companies just don’t have this material.”
Housed inside a concrete wall two feet thick, the reactor was apparently used for imaging and to detect impurities in supplies; the Democrat and Chronicle calls it one of the only nuclear research reactors on the planet, adding that there was no danger of an explosion. Kodak says no employees had access to it, prompting Gizmodo to wonder who operated it. Rochester’s current officials weren’t aware of the equipment, which Kodak obtained in 1974.
I started a anti statin campaign myself 5 years ago when they put me on these things and my body felt horrible and my joints deteriorated. I researched the drug and it became clear that the statin chemical is overly powerful, too powerful for the human body and the body treats it like a poison. After just a few months on them I took myself off of them. Furthermore, I was able to bring my cholesterol way down (pretty close to normal) by eating a mostly non-animal based diet. I am still currently on this diet and allow myself to have animal products a few times per week maximum. I have also completely eliminated milk from my diet and have successfully replaced it with almond milk. This is a great video explaining how they do more harm than good.
Today, Japan shut down the nation’s last operating nuclear reactor. This means that for the first time in more than 40 years the nation is without atomic power
The government isn’t happy and is warning about potential blackouts over the summer, but anti-nuke activists are thrilled in the wake of the Fukushima Dai-ichi disaster.
“Today is a historic day,” said one to a crowd in Tokyo, according to AP. “There are so many nuclear plants, but not a single one will be up and running today, and that’s because of our efforts.” Today’s reactor, like the others before it, was shut down for routine maintenance. But new rules put into place since Fukushima require authorities to get the approval of local residents before turning reactors back on. Activists leading the push want stricter industry oversight and better safety tests before agreeing to do so.
It’s been a rough offseason for the Miami Dolphins as they didn’t get their first choice at quarterback
Miami Dolphins
(Peyton Manning) or head coach (Jeff Fisher). It looks to be a long season in south Florida under new head coach Joe Philbin, with either Matt Moore or David Garrard under center.
The Dolphins will have an entirely new look under Philbin, who was the former offensive coordinator of the Green Bay Packers. The Dolphins are in the process of implementing a new West Coast offense as well as principles of a 4-3 defense.
Miami will open the 2012 NFL regular season against Houston, at 1 p.m. Sept. 9, and have their first home game against Oakland at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 16. So, a new Dolphins coaching staff with a new offense will attempt to turn around the team’s custom of slow starts against a franchise the Dolphins never have beaten in six previous games. That includes the last time the Dolphins faced the Texans in a season opener, a 21-20 loss in 2003, and a 23-13 Dolphins loss in Week 2 of last season.
The Dolphins have to work out a lot of wrinkles under a new head coach and will be coming off a quarterback competition in training camp.
Reggie Bush gets to prove he’s for real out of the gate against two teams with pretty good rush defenses (Houston, New York Jets). But overall, Miami’s schedule is pretty favorable. The Dolphins could surprise and be 4-2 at the bye despite not being as good on paper as they were in 2011.
Every team is required to play in a prime-time game this year. But Miami will get its only national game on Thursday night Nov. 15 against the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills. Miami has games against the hated Jets on Sept 23 and Oct. 28. QB Tim Tebow could be New York’s starter by the October game. It also marks matchups with Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano, Miami’s former coach.
A look at the 2011 records of next season’s opponents: Division — Jets (8-8), Bills (6-10), Patriots (13-3). Non-division — Texans (10-6), Raiders (8-8), Cardinals (8-8), Bengals (9-7), Rams (2-14), Colts (2-14), Titans (9-7), Seahawks (7-9), 49ers (13-3), Jaguars (5-11), Cardinals (2-14), Texans (10-6). Overall 2011 win-loss percentage of 2012 opponents: .496

I believe that human beings are 100% controlled by our genetics and the only variable are the stimuli that are also 100% controlled by other peoples genetics and even though there are seemingly an infinite number of combinations of historical events that could have landed us at this exact point, is exactly why I believe in god. Because chaos on that level is too chaotic and must have a control of something that exists beyond the rules of “reality”. The only true variable would be the “environment” i.e. non human animals, plants, and weather. So, possibly the animals and the plants and “weather” are the true control manipulating mechanisms.
I also figured out that when people are discussing religion vs nature they are talking about the same thing. One may argue that (relationship wise) there is a better chance that there is one person out there specifically for you (to mate with) and another will say that mathematically there are huge subsections that are right for each other and there has to be a huge % of you finding your “perfect mate”. But the truth is that we don’t know the formula or “recipe” or “degree” that has been tuned by god. Those are the variable, or variables, that we will never know and can never predict. Those variables could change or they could stay the same. It is the algorithm of life.
A very angry hipster is suing Apple for its “misleading and deceptive” advertising of Siri.In real life, the plaintiff alleges, Siri will not help you learn to play guitar, find you a restaurant, or make an appointment with nearly the aplomb depicted in Apple’s commercials. More often “Siri either did not understand what Plaintiff was asking, or, after a very long wait time, responded with the wrong answer,” according to the lawsuit filed yesterday, which names Frank Fazio, “individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated,” as the plaintiff.
Siri is “at best, a work-in-progress,” the suit concludes.
Apple declined to discuss the suit, so the Wall Street Journal asked Siri for comment. “We were talking about you, not me,” Siri replied. Apparently, this is something she says a lot.
Michigan resident Amanda Clayton won the lottery back in September… congratulations, but despite her $1million prize, she was still collecting $200 per month in food stamps until recently.
Last night, the Michigan Department of Human Services confirmed she has been removed from the welfare program, the Detroit News reports. “State assistance, our tax dollars, is meant to go to those who are truly in need,” says state Rep. Dale Zorn. “It’s not meant to go to those who won big in the lottery.” A similar incident involving a $2 million payday occurred in 2010, and Zorn is now looking to make sure big lottery winners are taken off welfare programs.
Clayton’s ex-boyfriend says she went on “an insane shopping spree” after winning the state lottery; she reportedly bought a house and car with cash. After taxes, she took home about $500,000 total of her $700,000 lump sum payment, Clayton’s mother says. And here’s the craziest quote of all, from Clayton herself: “I thought that they would cut me off, but since they didn’t I thought maybe it was OK because I’m not working. I feel that it’s OK because I have no income, and I have bills to pay. I have two houses.” The Times notes that she could well have been breaking the law, if she accepted food stamps after her income and assets surpassed the legal threshold. “The person in question hasn’t been eligible for a long time,” says a DHS spokesman
A new study has shown that people taking Vitamin A supplements were 60% less likely to developmelanoma. The study, which was published today in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, followed 59,000 people for six years, LiveScience reports. Of the 5,800 taking regular vitamin A supplements, only 28 got melanoma—compared to 506 among those who had never taken it.
The effect was especially strong among women, who researchers say may have more natural antioxidant protection than men. Those who had taken supplements in the past but weren’t taking them regularly anymore saw no benefit.
“This is promising evidence that in addition to sun protection there’s another option that can help prevent melanoma,” one dermatologist not involved with the study said. But “there are limits to how much vitamin A a person can consume,” she warned—it can be toxic in doses above 2,800 micrograms.
This is an article I found when studying the alarming rise in the rate of childhood autism and cancers. Many of you know my stance on nuclear anything so you know that I had to investigate that as a potential cause. Here are a few facts and then on to an article which I found to be very informative.
1) Life on earth was uninhabitable for many years for several reasons. But even after the temperatures settled close to where they are now and the atmosphere had the right compounds for life there was one more stubborn factor that needed to settle before life could thrive.. you guessed it: radioactivity. Elements decay and change structural makeup and the stage before they become super dense and transform into lead, they are Uranium. Uranium is a radioactive heavy metal. After it settled and much has turned into lead, then life on this planet began to thrive. Here come the humans. What do we do? We dig it out of the ground and make bombs with it and scatter it into the atmosphere for all to get a dose.
2) There is a trace of every above ground nuclear explosion in all living beings (well over 2,000 since 1945). There is a trace of the Chernobyl disaster in all living beings. There will soon be a trace of Fukushima in all living beings.
3) Nuclear is not magic or god like. It is a reaction that has been going on since the start of the universe and the Earth is perfectly shielded from a huge nuclear reactor (our sun). The thermal heat keeps us alive but the gamma, x-rays, and other rays can kill us. We simply recreated a fundamental reaction on Earth that has no business being on Earth. When TNT molecules break apart and form other substances, the energy released during the transition causes an explosion. Fundamentally, something similar happens with fissile materials and elements that are fused (fusion). As these materials change, the amount of energy displaced is so much larger than that of chemical molecules i.e. TNT. The explosion is great but the residue can be deadly for thousands of years.
4) Radiation alters cell function and mutates DNA.
Here is the article Compiled by LAUANA LEI:
The increased use of uranium compounds in industry, and more recently in warfare in the form of depleted uranium, causes concern and a necessary look at internal contamination with uranium and its toxicological consequences, both as a heavy metal and as a radiological hazard. I became interested when my laboratory tests came back this past year with all metals in the normal range EXCEPT uranium! I began to wonder where am I getting uranium?? With some digging for information, it seems everyone in North America may be exposed to uranium. First, let’s see what uranium is and the sources.
Uranium is a lustrous, silvery, heavy, radioactive and polyvalent metallic element found extensively in nature which eventually disintegrates into lead. It is present in air, water, and food, and so almost everyone comes in contact with, and we consume tiny amounts of uranium daily. Uranium is a heavy metal similar to tungsten, lead, mercury, and cadmium. Its toxic chemical characteristics as a heavy metal, are independent of its radiological characteristics. All the isotopes of uranium exhibit the same chemical behavior (reactivity) and possess identical and exert the same chemical effects on the body. It is important to note that DEPLETED URANIUM (DU) oxides formed at high temperatures from the use of DU armaments are not the same as DU metal or any other metallic form of uranium.
The uranous ion produces a toxic effect on the living cells by inhibiting the processes of metabolism of carbohydrates by the inhibition of enzyme systems. (Could this be a factor of why many people are gaining so much weight in the last couple of years)? This is done with the enzyme system specifically associated with hexakinase at the sites of ATP surface-building through magnesium-hexokinase mechanism. Early studies on the biological effects of uranium indicated that uranium salts given by mouth presented a hazard as a mild poison causing death.
There have been 2,000 nuclear detonations on our planet since Hiroshima; over five hundred of them conducted above ground casting uranium and other radioactive substances into our atmosphere. Background radiation levels have increased and many of the harmful medical effects are still waiting to manifest. Radiation does its dirty work quite slowly when it comes to low level exposures, but its effect is cumulative (as is most metals and toxic chemicals). New exposures amplify the biological vulnerabilities already created by other exposure.
During one year of operation, a nuclear reactor produces as much long-lived radioactive poison as that released by 1,000 Hiroshima bombs. Green Peace
A new study by Joseph Mangano was announced in Trenton, NJ on March 28, 2006. The study, published in the International Journal of Health Services, finds that childhood cancer is linked with normal reactor operations. Cancer in children living near the Oyster Creek nuclear reactor rose after increased levels of radiation entered their bodies. Studies show the comparing trends at other nuclear sites. The breast cancer in women also rise in geographical areas near nuclear reactors. The nation’s nuclear reactors are leaking and many are losing their lives from it.
Personally, I tested a four year old child in South Carolina for the clay baths and looked at the mother and said, “She seems to have been exposed to radiation!” The mother asked me to check the other children out and I found the same thing in three more children, I asked her if she lived near a nuclear plant. She replied, “My husband (whom I did not see) works there and we live about 15 miles away!”
SAT scores plunged in the early days of above ground nuclear testing showing neurological effects and even autism can be linked, in part, to nuclear generated power. Studies and research working with autism have mostly plotted out the dramatic rise in the 1990′s to sharp increases in the use of mercury containing thimerosal in vaccines. But at the same time radiation levels were increasing. Such plagues as autism and the dramatic rise in learning disabilities are fueled by a multitude of converging causes. The principle ones being heavy metals like aluminum, lead and mercury, combining with fluoride and aspartame and a myriad of other toxic chemicals —all interacting with uranium, and ionizing radiation in the bodies and cells of our young children. Human cells exposed to uranium bond with it and these other heavy metals and the resultant biochemical reaction can cause genetic mutations, which in turn can curtail cell grown and potentially trigger cancer.

Brad’s Note: I think it’s important to note that the Chernobyl Disaster occurred in 1986. Radiation can sometimes take several years to permeate the world and show effects at long ranges.
The primary cause of death from acute radiation injury is usually infection by normal pathogens during the phase of manifest illness. Even minimally symptomatic doses of radiation depress the immune response and dramatically increase the infectivity.
Both mercury and uranium sit in the environment like invisible clouds that have spread out everywhere. With mercury, we find the exposure everywhere in our environment and also vaccines, dental fillings, fish, all plastics and hundreds other of sources. With uranium we have United States and Britain blowing the stuff up in distant battlefields only to have the radioactive poisons drift around the world.
It needs to be clear that everything done with radioactive substances is dangerous to mankind. The newest risk is coming from depleted uranium (DU) weapons and the huge tonnage of material already spilled across four battlefields. Though greatly concentrated in local war zones, recent evidence demonstrates that it is being carried in the high winds to distant lands. With the different radioactive substances having half lives measured in thousands, millions and even billions of years, and with modern medicine in the first world depending increasingly on diagnostic machines with their own high levels of radiation, humanity is increasingly threatened by rising radiation levels as it is with rising levels of mercury and other toxic chemicals.
If depleted uranium enters the body it has the potentiality of causing serious medical consequences. The associated risk is both chemical and radiological. US Army Report 1995
Once a radionuclide is absorbed, it is distributed throughout the body. The rate of distribution to each organ is related to organ metabolism, the ease of chemical transport, and the affinity of the radionuclide for chemicals within the organ. The liver, kidney, adipose tissue, and bone have higher capacities for binding radionuclides due to their high protein and lipid makeup. The kidneys though are considered the primary target organ for uranium chemical toxicity. Once the uranium is solubilized in the blood, the kidney will excrete some of it in urine. Uranium not excreted distributes to bone and soft tissue, including the kidney, liver, lung, fat, muscle, and then, to some extent, to all other organs. Although uranium in the body distributes to all organs with the main reservoir being the skeleton, the target organ is the kidney, where functional change is observed.
Iraqis and Kuwaitis aren’t the only ones showing signs of uranium contamination and sickness. Gulf War veterans, plagued by a variety of illnesses have been found to have traces of uranium in their blood, feces, urine and semen!
Multiple cancer cases are being reported in all nuclear battlefields where DU armaments were used (Yugoslavia, Afghanistan and Iraq). Nuclear war has been reclassified as conventional with the use of depleted uranium weapons. Every war now fought by the United States has some form of radiation whether nuclear radiation or DU (depleted uranium) from armaments. No war is safe anywhere on the planet.
While we certainly do not wish this to happen, it is better to be fore-warned and know what to do if necessary. Also, check our other articles on radiation detoxification. Today’s Wikileaks release came with this interesting bit of information: The notion that Israel has already blown up Iran ’s nuclear facilities, RT reports.
julian assange
According to a Stratfor email, a source said rumors of a pending Israeli attack are “a diversion. The Israelis already destroyed all the Iranian nuclear infrastructure on the ground weeks ago.” The November 14, 2001 email suggested that Israel had sent commandos into Iran, possibly with Kurdish militants, to blow up the plants.
The email added that the “let’s bomb Iran” campaign “was ordered by the EU leaders to divert the public attention from their at home financial problems,” Raw Story reports. But Julian Assange is calling this proof of Stratfor’s low-grade Middle East intelligence.
Speaking to reporters in London, the Wikileaks founder slammed Stratfor for writing reports based on just one Middle East source. He also accused the intelligence-gathering firm of spying on activist groups for multinationals and making investments using its private intelligence. “What we have discovered is a company that is a private intelligence Enron,” said Assange.
Brad’s Take: It’s a dirty job but somebody’s got to do it.
